Diving Into the Pool of Customer Choice

June_2007_048smallRemember your first jump off a diving board?  When you’re just over 4 ft. tall, and the water is 5 feet away — it might as well be 500 feet.  It’s new, it seems unbelievably far and your stomach has this little flutter in it.  But you’ve seen other kids do it – and they survived the jump — so in you go.

The process of going into something new is no different.  I’m jumping into the blogging pool.  And that’s scary.  I’m feeling kind of small and new.  The pool of veteran bloggers looks vast and deep.  But others have done it and survived.  I guess I will too.

What’s the New Pool of Customer Choice – and Why Should You Take the Plunge?

In today’s marketplace – it’s all about choosing and getting chosen.  Just think about the last time you made a purchase.  Did someone actually "sell" you something?  By that I mean, did you walk into a store without a clue about the product or service you were buying and have a sales person educate you, consult with you and finally convince you that this was the perfect thing for you?  Chances are good that the answer to that question is NO.

In fact, there’s a good chance that you’ve done some research on the internet, you talked to some people and got recommendations, and by the time you walked into the store – you just needed to see, feel, touch and experience this thing for yourself.  If your experience matched what you’d researched and heard, the sale was done.  YOU chose to buy or not to buy.

If you’re a small business, you’ve probably noticed that your clients and customers are pretty much doing the same thing.

So sales (as we’ve known it) is out.  Becoming the obvious choice for your ideal customer is IN.  And together, we’ll take the journey to find out how to become the ideal choice for your customer – regardless of price.

    Hi Ivana,

Can’t wait for the next installment. Great topic and I’m interested in “hearing” what you have to say.

What is the “TypePad People” list?
