Practice Makes Profit

He makes it look so easy. In reality, it’s just a lucky moment when the shutter actually clicked in time to catch the action.
In reality, to consistently bounce that ball and make it look good takes a lot of practice and a love of the game — something my little soccer star has yet to do and gain. But it got me thinking.
Getting and keeping customers takes practice. You have to start with some basic skills and work it every day.
They say that you need to do seven marketing and customer-building activities every day. But that can be hard to do if your list is a short one.
So I thought I’d start a little list here and maybe you can add some of your own.
- Make personal calls. That’s something you weren’t expecting is it? But it’s a wonderful activity that’s lots of fun. Take some time with your favorite beverage, sit in a comfy chair and make a few calls to some clients and contacts. Just check in and be sure to ask what’s new with them and share some things you’re working on.
- Create an offering. An offering a day keeps customers customers coming back for more. Take a few minutes and think about a new product or service combination that your current or potential customers might find interesting.
- Schedule a speaking engagement. If you schedule a speaking engagement every month, you’ll find yourself sharpening up your story and getting new ideas for new offerings.
- Manage your online networking. Facebook is getting bigger and bigger. I just heard that a company that launched an application on facebook, got over 6 million customers in a couple of days. That might not be realistic for you, but don’t discount the social networking movement. Manage your facebook and your LinkedIn profiles.
- Blog. This might seem obvious, but it’s easy to let your blog posting slide.
Your Turn.
