Marketing Strategies You Already Know
You already know all you need to know about creating a killer marketing strategy that gets and keeps customers you love that love you back. The trick is knowing HOW to put those philosophies into play in your business.
Here is a partial list of "All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" by Robert Fulghum along with some of my practical applications and adaptations to your marketing strategy.
- Share everything. One of the things I love about the "new" world of social media and technology is the concept of sharing information. Blogging is on obvious tool you can use. Another application of his little rule is to have sharing conversations with your customers. We assume that if we tell them what we know – they won’t need us. What our customers want is relationship and help. Don’t be afraid of sharing. Use collaborative software and tools. Create white papers and e-books. Load your web site up with free stuff that will give your clients an experience of what it’s like to work with you. Pull together a community of experts and create something to share will all of your clients.
- Play fair. Give credit to anyone and everyone who has helped and contributed to anything that you’ve done. Always give more in value than you take away in the price. The goal is to create an impression of increase with the people you interact with. Come up with some kind of a 100% guarantee and share it with your clients.
- Don’t hit people. For marketing purposes, let’s interpret this as "Don’t torment your clients with things that aren’t important to them. Find out what’s important to your customers when they are buying what you’re selling and then give it to them. No need to complicate their lives with extras that they don’t care about. Check out these applicable trends to see what I mean.
- Don’t take things that aren’t yours. While personal creativity might have been more valued in the past, today, it’s all about sharing knowledge and resources. Sharing creates a win-win situation. Click over to Rachelle’s blog and see an idea that matches this strategy.
There are more of these that I’ll write about in future posts. But I wanted to share these with you now. What are some simple things that we should know, that we should do to build healthy and profitable relationships with customers we love?

Ivana,
Thanks for the mention and the link!
Obviously, you know I’m going to agree with “Share everything.” The way I look at it, the people who want to do it — “it” being publicity in my case — are going to do it themselves! Not everyone can afford to work with a publicist, or has the desire to for other reasons. I hope someone somewhere will find my blog and list of resources useful. In finding tips and tools for my blog readers, it keeps me on top of what’s out there, too…so it is, in fact, win-win.
You’re right that the advent of social media has created such a sharing environment online. I could spend endless hours reading all of the great blog entries and articles. The information is out there just waiting for us to find it!
