Are You Giving Your Gravy Away?

Porchops and gravy Last Friday night, we got into the car and my husband had the blues station playing on XM Radio.  At first, I wasn't really into the blues but then this wonderful song came on:

Selling My Pork Chops – Memphis Minnie

I loved the gritty sound of the old record needle working its way through the song.  I loved Minnie's wonderful voice, and I especially loved the lyrics of the song: "I'm sellin' my pork chops, but I'm givin' my gravy away…."  I was hooked!

The first thing I thought of was "Pricing" (how pathetic is that?) But the song reminded me of how often we're selling one thing, but giving away the real value that customers get.

What do YOU think of when you hear this phrase?

Very interesting and timely! Entrepreneurs often miss or even overlook the connection between pricing and value. The truth is the two are one and the same. THANKS for the wakeup call.
