Is Your Marketing Too Comfortable to Succeed?
I think it's funny that "Change" has become such a popular phrase in politics, when there's one thing that humans dread – even more than public speaking, that's CHANGE.
Generally speaking, we just don't like it. We like routine, we like comfort. We work hard to find something that works – and then we stick with it. In fact, our brains are designed to do exactly that.
About a month ago, I heard someone say that if you want to start a successful business - make it something that helps people deal with making change.
So, it stands to reason that your marketing strategy should fall into that category; something you just don't want to change. It's comfortable, it feels good and easy, something you can slip into and out of freely. But it may not be as effective as you think.
Effective marketing strategy – one that gets and keeps loyal customers that you love and love you back – thrives on change. Its sort of like body sculpting. To develop a gorgeous well sculpted body – you need to change your exercises around frequently to "surprise" your muscles.
Your Marketing is too Comfortable if….
- You haven't talked to a new customer about your offer in a few months.
- Your customers have no idea that you've expanded your offering with products and services they could probably use – but don't.
- Your sales people spend more time talking to their customer buddies than to new prospects.
What are some of YOUR signs that your marketing is too comfortable?
