How to Position Your Offer – What Do You Want Your Target to Think?

I never understood why actresses and some women would ltell people they were YOUNGER than they really were. I mean if you’re going to lie about your age — why wouldn’t you make yourself older? That way people would think “WOW she looks amazing for her age!” Instead of “Geez, she looks a little ratty for her age.”
It’s all about positioning in the eye of the beholder isn’t it?
So, if you’re going to position yourself – the point is to position yourself so that you get the desired reaction from your audience. If your desired reaction is to have people think you look young and wonderful – then you should tell them you are older than you are and be proud of it.
If your intention is to have your customers choose you – then tell them something about your offering that will make them think “Yeah! I want that!” For example. Domino’s doesn’t run around saying they have the best tasting pizza in the world – they say you’ll get it in 30 minutes. Because that’s what their customer is thinking – “I want pizza, I want it now and I don’t want to wait an hour to get a great pizza that’s cold – because then it’s not great.”
When you’re thinking positioning – think “What do I want my target to think?”
